Show Rules
General
- 1.The name of the Baby Koi Show has been changed to – The Young Koi Show – as this is better reflection the type of koi entrant.
- 2.English Style Show.
- 3.The Show Chairman has final authority relating to all decisions at the show site other than the actual judging.
- 4.All persons entering koi on the show are to abide by decisions, and comply with all reasonable directions, of the Show Chairman or any Gauteng Chapter Committee member whilst on the show site.
- 5.Show vats must be booked and paid for in advance.

- 7.Booking of retail stands and show vats is confirmed only when payment in full has been received.
- 8.Membership fees must be paid up to the date of the show or entrants must pay the non-members charges.
- 9.Show vat bookings have to be confirmed by Friday 13th September 2013.
- 10.Retail dealers wishing to take a show vat must book and pay for a stand.
- 11.No Koi may be removed from or transferred to another show vat before de-benching. Special authority must be sought from the Show Chairman to remove any stressed or ill koi before Sunday de-benching. The show chairman reserves the right to call on any person or judge person for a second opinion should he or her deem this necessary.
- 12.SAKKS will not accept any responsibility or liability for any loss of or injury to any entry or entrant.
- 13.The entrants MUST SIGN the applicable show terms and conditions of entry and abide by these at all times.
- 14.The committee reserves the right to reject any entry or entrant at its sole and absolute discretion.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
- 1.Members entering koi as well as dealers must adhere to the Biosecurity document and protocols of 2013.
- 2.No koi that have been previously exposed to KHV or which are survivors of KHV outbreak are permitted to be entered on this show.
- 3.No salt or other additives may be added to any show vat by the owner or any other person except with the prior approval of the duly appointed SAKKS water management team who may refuse such requests at their sole discretion. (The SAKKS water testing procedures may be affected by salt and / or other additives. Further, salt and additives may affect the clarity of the water for the judging).
Show Vat Restrictions
- 1.Only 3 fish of the same variety in the same size group per entrant.
- 2.Maximum length of all koi per 2 meter pond must not exceed 3 meters of koi.
- 3.For the health of your fish kindly adhere to these restrictions. Extra fish will have to be removed from the show site by the entrant.
Health Restrictions
- 1.All fish will be inspected for parasite infestations, bacterial infections, serious injury or serious stress.
- 2.The benching Officers reserve the right to reject any fish entries due to health related issues.
- 3.All entrants are required to bring their own net and bowl for each individual pond and these must remain at the allocated vat for the duration of the show.
- 4.All entrants are required to stop feeding their koi 7 days prior to the show.
- 5.All dealers are required to present a current KHV free certificate.
- 6.Entries which have been imported into South Africa within 4 weeks of the show may not be entered on the show.
- 7.Dealers must use biosecurity measures on their stands.
Costs of Show Vats
- 1.Paid up SAKKS members = R500 per vat.
- 2.Non-members and non-paid up SAKKS members = R1000.00 per show vat.
- 3.Show vat payments are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.
- 4.No late entries will be accepted.
Photographs
- 1.Two "clear" colour photos of every fish entry MUST accompany every entry at benching time. No entry will be accepted without photos, and the benching officer reserves the right to reject an entry based on bad or unclear Photo's.
- 2.Please take special care with photo's of (Ogons). Asagi and single coloured koi like chagoi, soragoi etc.
Benching
- 1.The show is an English style show with entrant's koi in their own exclusive vats.
- 2.Benching is on Friday 27th September from 08:30 to 16:30
- 3.The owner must be present during benching.
- 4.Please ensure that the fish are bagged in clear water.
- 5.All fish from the same entrant MUST be benched together.
- 6.Entrants will be allocated a vat number and benching will be done in that particular vat and in the order in which entrants arrive at the show.
- 7.You may book a benching time slot to help with efficient benching.
- 8.If you are not present when your benching number is called, you will be moved to the end of the list at that point in time.
- 9.Please follow the benching procedures. No photographer is available at the show.
De-benching
- 1.Will only be allowed after 15H00 on Sunday 29th September 2013.
- 2.Vehicle access into the show site is limited and will be strictly controlled because of weekend pedestrians. Please adhere to any instructions by office bearers.
- 3.The entrant will be allocated to a de-benching officer. The entrant must check the fish in his/her pond and sign of the de-benching documentation and hand it over to the de-benching officer prior to de-benching the fish.
- 4.The entrant may not nominate anyone else to de-bench his/her fish unless authorised by the de-benching officer. In the event of a dispute none of the entrants' fish may be removed from the show venue until the matter is resolved by the show chairman.
Vehicle Movement within the Show Area
- 1.Vehicles with tanks or fish bags will be allowed to enter the show area from the designated entrance only. Entrance 2.
- 2.The movement within the show area is one way in and the same way out.
- 3.Vehicles will need to be moved to the public parking area as soon as possible to minimise congestion.
- 4.At de-benching on the Sunday 29th September SAKKS will attempt to provide you with enough access to show vats.
Basic Programme:
Benching: Friday 27th September – 8h30 to 16h30
Judging: Saturday 28th September - 08h30 onwards
Prize Giving: Sunday 29th September at 11h00
Debenching: - Sunday 29th September at 15h00.

- Supreme Champion from size 1 to 4
- Baby Grand Champion out of sizes 1 and 2 (20Bu and 30Bu).
- Best Potential in each size group from all entries in each size group from sizes 1 to 4. (20Bu to 45Bu)
- Overall Best in Special Variety from all winners across the sizes.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placing of each variety where the judges feel the quality is acceptable. NB: NOT all the placing’s have to be given for each variety and / or size.
